World of Insanity

Once upon a time, there was a fine line between sanity and insanity.
I mention this because these days it feels like every other day brings a “major, significant” opinion poll (their words, not mine) on just about everything you can imagine.
People may outwardly grumble about them, but secretly many love the overabundance of information, even if it is false.
Why?
Because it feeds the craving for more — an almost insane appetite for data that people increasingly accept at face value, without a moment’s scrutiny.
Is it any wonder, then, that politicians can now lie to us with impunity?
Polls that condemn them are dismissed as just “another poll,” or “fake news”
But here’s the real question: is it just me, or does the world feel like it’s heading to hell in a handcart – or it it in fact already there?
Political leaders are no longer walking the thin line between sanity and insanity — a line that seems to grow finer by the day.
And in some cases, it’s already been crossed: Farage. Trump. Putin. Netanyahu.
So, what happens next?
Perhaps the most practical and sanest thing the rest of us could do is hand them all a history book.
Then sit back and hope for the best.
